Maine Secretary of State, statewide absentee voter data file
Totals counted from the Secretary's voter-level absentee file (not stored here), counting each voter once. Accepted means the file's status is accepted (ACT, ACU or ACH). In-person is Maine's early absentee voting at the municipal clerk's office. The file is named as of 10/30/2026. Updated Oct 29, 2:39 PM ET; retrieved Oct 30, 1:34 PM ET.
- The source lists municipalities, not counties, and the Secretary publishes no municipality-to-county table we could fetch, so county figures are left out.
- Party figures are voters' registered party enrollment among accepted ballots, not how anyone voted. Maine's U is unenrolled; O combines any other party.
- The Secretary says the file reflects data entered by municipal clerks and may miss what clerks received that day, so it lags.
- Mail requested counts voters with an absentee request made any way other than voting in the clerk's presence (electronic, telephone, written, UOCAVA and similar request types). Mail returned counts those voters' absentee ballots received back by any method the file records (by mail, delivered by the voter, by a family member or third person, and so on), whatever the ballot's status. Early in-person is ballots cast in the clerk's presence, which the Secretary calls in-person absentee voting, not early voting. Early in-person and the total count accepted ballots only. A voter whose first ballot was rejected and who then voted again is counted once.
- No 2022 comparison: the Secretary's 2022 absentee file refused our requests (HTTP 403), so none was fetched.
