Privacy
Effective November 2, 2026. Questions or requests: hello@electionwrld.com.
You can use every page, map and download on Election Wrld without an account and without telling us who you are. This page covers the whole site: what reaches us when you browse, what an account holds if you make one, and which companies handle it for us.
When you browse
Hosting. Vercel hosts the site. Like any web host, its servers see your IP address, browser and the pages you ask for, and it keeps request logs for a limited time, set by our plan. Its log retention table lists the periods. We don’t copy those logs anywhere else.
Page counts. We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics. It sets no cookies. Vercel says it identifies a visit by a hash of the request, which it discards after 24 hours, and stores the page, referrer, rough location, browser, device type and the time (Vercel’s analytics privacy page). Before a page view is sent, we strip friend-group invite codes, group ids, anything typed into the ballot lookup and the picks in a map link.
We also send a few named events, so we know which tools people use. None of them carries your email, your address or your picks:
map_started: when you make your first pick on a map. It carries which map (Senate, House, governor or president).map_shared: when you share a map. It carries which map (or your public page) and how you shared it (link, image or the share sheet).home_state_opened: when you open a state from the home map. It carries the state.ballot_lookup_used: when you look up your ballot. It carries whether the lookup worked, never the address.sign_in_started: when you ask for a sign-in code. It carries which page you asked from.sign_in_send_failed: when a sign-in code couldn't be sent. It carries the error number from the email service.account_created: when you pick a username. It carries which page you signed up from.picks_locked: when you lock a map. It carries which map (Senate, House or governor).pro_waitlist_joined: when you join the Pro waitlist. It carries whether you were signed in.
Ballot lookup. The address lookup sends the address you type to the US Census Bureau Geocoder, which returns your districts. We don’t log, store or cache the address, and it never goes in a page address. The Census Bureau’s privacy policy covers what it does with the request.
Your browser. Your theme, your map-maker picks and your saved maps stay in your browser’s storage until you clear them. When you choose Share, your picks go to our server inside the image address so it can draw the picture. We don’t save them. During sign-in, the address you typed waits in this tab for up to 10 minutes, so the code step survives switching apps.
Do Not Track. We don’t follow you across other sites and we use no advertising trackers, so there’s nothing for a Do Not Track signal to switch off.
If you make an account
Accounts aren't open yet. When they are, an account will be optional. It holds your email address, your username, your maps, your friend groups and whether you want an email when your picks are scored. We never ask for your name, home address, party or birth date.
Public: your username, your locked maps, when you locked them and your score. Private: your email address, maps you haven’t locked, and your friend groups, which only their members see.
Supabase stores accounts and signs you in. It keeps its own logs of sign-ins (Supabase privacy policy). Resend delivers our emails, including sign-in codes, and keeps its own delivery records (Resend privacy policy). We email you only to sign you in and, if you leave that box checked, once when your picks are scored.
Email to us
Mail to hello@electionwrld.com and our corrections address goes through ImprovMX, a forwarding service, to our inbox (ImprovMX privacy policy). We keep your message as long as we need it to answer or fix what you reported.
How long we keep things
Your account and maps stay until you delete them. Locked maps stay public as a record of the 2026 picks until you delete your account. The companies above keep their own logs for the periods their pages describe. We don’t sell your data, and we don’t share it with anyone except those companies, or when the law requires it.
Your choices
To ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted, email hello@electionwrld.com from the address on your account. We answer within 30 days.
Children
Election Wrld isn’t directed to children under 13, and you must be 13 or older to make an account. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 13, we delete it. A parent can write to hello@electionwrld.com.
Ads are coming
We plan to show ads later. When we do, this page will change first to say which ad company we use and what it collects.
Changes to this page
The date at the top changes whenever this page does. If a change affects accounts, we’ll say so on the site before it takes effect. See also the terms.
